The danger of AI in personal branding
AI gives a lot of content creators the easy way out. But is it really the easy way out, or does it lead you down a dark path?

As a test to show you what AI generates, I prompted ChatGPT to create a post offering entrepreneurs advice to grow their business.
This is what I got back...
"Focus on solving real problems, build genuine connections, and never stop refining your value—growth starts with purpose and persistence. 💡🚀 hashtag#EntrepreneurTips"
Soooo many things about this scream, "I was written using AI!!!"
So many things are generic, cliché, boring, and kind of obvious.
It's also a bit too buttoned up.
If you pull the AI trigger to save time, you'll end up wasting time publishing content that people ignore.
Be better than this. Be authentic. Create content from the heart and inject that personality that makes you unique.
That's how you grow on social media. Not by prompting, copying, and pasting.

AI Comes With Pros and Cons
I recently stumbled upon an article on Psychology Today that talked about the pros and cons of AI in personal branding. So, I wanted to share with the idea that I’m not trying to scare you away from AI, but trying to educate and start a conversation.
My goal is always to educate and set you up for success. So, let’s look at a few key takeaways from the article by Melissa A. Wheeler, PhD.
Using AI to grow your personal brand can be a smart move. It’s not all negative. In fact, it can help you be more efficient, save time, and improve the work you do. Here are a few ways AI can help you in personal branding.
AI can conduct research - It can lay the groundwork to help you figure out what would connect most with your audience.
Improve efficiencies - Take on tedious tasks and check them off your list.
Start drafts - AI can get things rolling for you, but you need to take it as a draft and make it your own.
Here are a few ways AI can create pitfalls and hinder your ability to build your personal brand.
Never use AI to create an “ideal” image of yourself - A true personal brand involves the authentic, REAL you. AI can create dissonance between you and the fake you.
Never use AI to craft social media posts - At least not fully. You can use them to get you started, but ALWAYS use the human element. This is one area where Wheeler and I disagree. She says to use it to create content, but I say NO.
Can be viewed as an imposter - This is the last thing you want. Part of growing your personal brand is building authority, and if that authority is artificial…look out.
You make up your own mind! I’m here to give you my thoughts and start a conversation. AI is still in its infancy in a lot of ways, so we’re all growing along with it.
