Activity and expertise for the win on LinkedIn

Many LinkedIn users fail, throw up their hands, and blame the algorithm. Be one of the smart ones who stick it out and win the day.

Your colleagues are missing out

If you’re active on LinkedIn, you’re already a million steps ahead of your colleagues. Whether you’re goal is to grow your business or land that next killer job, being active and showcasing your expertise on LinkedIn will give you a major boost.

It’s an interactive resume.

Your articles, interactions, and your profile mix together to create a powerful presence that helps you shine and stand out from the competition.

The thing is, most people aren’t using this channel properly.

This means LinkedIn offers an amazing opportunity for you to stand out and grab those opportunities before the competition does.

Let’s take a look at how your colleagues are using the channel the wrong way and what you can do differently to position yourself for success.

Don’t be like your lackadaisical colleagues

LinkedIn User: “LinkedIn is worthless. I get zero engagement on my posts.”

When I see these kinds of posts, I visit the person’s profile, and the issues are almost always the same.

- Only posts every few weeks.
- Limited depth or thought behind the post.
- Ignores comments on their posts (if anyone is even moved to comment).
- Negative tone, always complaining.
- Half-baked profile development.

If it were that simple to get rich using LinkedIn, I would be out of a job. Thankfully, it's not.

If you expect to receive value from LinkedIn, you need to add value to the platform.

- Give more than you get.
- Comment often (at least 10 times daily) on others' posts.
- Create original content and publish at least two posts per week.
- Write often about the topic for which you want to be known as an expert.
- Use your 100 weekly connection requests to build a network of the RIGHT people.
- Send follow-up DMs to introduce yourself, but don't be too salesy.

It takes time and effort, but it's worth it. Do this for 60 days. If you don't see results in that time, it's YOU, not LinkedIn.
